Anime is best defined as Japanese animation (cartoons). But differs from American cartoons. In Anime, the quality is much better (people actually look like people (correct shapes/movement)). There are real plots. What I mean by this, is it's really just ordinary TV, that happens to be totally animated.

Their are a myriad of different types of Anime out there. My personal favorites are the romantic comedy. I usually don't get into the 'battle mech' stuff very much.

Favorite Anime

VGAI

'Video Girl AI' (AI means love in Japanese (also happens to be the video girls name)) is a wonderful love story. A love that can't exist. The main character's name is yota motauci (means not good with girls). He loves this girl named moemi, and she doesn't exactly feel the same way towards him (though I believe she really does, but doesn't realize it). She loves the coolest guy in school takashi...and he doesn't love anybody. Moemi comes to yota on a regular basis to talk about her problems, she uses him as a shoulder to cry on. Yota is such a good guy that he never complains (as long as she's happy, that's enough for him). Well, at some point in time, yota happens upon a video gokaru (heaven). They offer him a free lifetime membership...only the pure of heart can rent from a video gokaru. Tapes are rented for an entire month (that's the playtime too). After popping the tape in his VCR (witch had been acting up all day), he's rather confused, since the girl in the tape seems to be talking directly to him. Before long, she pops out of the TV (how?)...the story gets really weird at this point (and it's still only like 5 min into it!). That's all I can say about it without ruining it for anybody who hasn't seen it.

Their are six episodes, each running about an hour. The copy I have was done by VIZ video

Devil Hunter Yohko

Ok, lets just say weird, and really funny. Pretty much no plot, well, it has one, but it tends to be really cheesy (with crackers). The main story line has to do with Yohko, and her family (the fems only) fighting demons that come to this world. It's pretty perverted too (to say the least).

Their are six episodes, runtime varies from one hour to 30 minuet (note of interest, episode 4 is really just a bunch of music videos) The copy I have was done by A.D.V Films

Also I'd like to note that this series is little more than an excuse to show Yohko and friends naked...

Kimgure Orange Road

Another wonderful series. This one was very mainstream in Japan during the 80's. It's a weird love triangle. Starting out when Kyousuke moves to a new town (due to having ESP, and one of his sisters showing it in the last town). After arriving, he meets a girl named Modaka...they strike it off, but, the next day at school, he finds out that she is one of the biggest bad asses around. While being depressed, he uses his ESP in school (when he thinks nobody is looking). Lazily throwing a basketball through a hoop (on the other side of the court), hikaru sees it (while hiding in the gyms closet having a smoke). From that moment on, she decides that he's hers! Another note of interest, hikaru, and Modaka have been best of friends since childhood. Kyousuke knows this, and doesn't want to hurt either of them (by doing this, he causes a lot of mixed feelings) Before the series gets over, Kyousuke finally makes up his mind...but I'm not going to tell who he chooses!

Their are 48 episodes, a movie, and several OAV's (I don't remember how many (or have all of them). I have all 48 episodes (raw Japanese (no sub/dub))...They are direct copies from LD. The movie (sub), and then subs of 3 OAV's. (all pirate)

Ohh, my goddesses

Very cool series. Major romantic comedy here...this guy gets a wish...he wishes for the girl to stay with him for the rest of his life...she grants it, and then things start to really get interesting. Check it out!

I don't have any of this series at the moment...seemed to have lost it during all of my moves

All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku

I like, but can't say much past there, only have episodes 5, and 6. But I love it. Weapons, girls, cats...what else does one need?

Lain

13 year old girl becomes a computer geek, and really gets into it. Finds out it's deeper that expected. Also explains the way America has affected Japan.

Daisy -- Don't leave me alone

Boy falls in love, girl doesn't like him much. Boy gets girl anyway, treating her like a pet of sorts. Oh, and the Boy has a pet missile named 'mimi' who will explode when he says 'Explode now!'. Great series, even includes a rebel punk who has no friends (who constantly thinks he's going to die).

Ai City

Head-Meters, people with psychic powers that can be measured by a big LED readout on their foreheads. They are fighting for the 'switch'. Actually a young girl who can destroy the entire world with a single password. A bit slow, but a good movie.

Metal Angel Marie

Yes, Marie. Just like the Japanese word for 'ball' (mari). This guy is in love with this girl, but he thinks she will never go out with him. So, he makes an android that looks just like her (and names her Marie). It brings up a lot of questions. Normal ones. Like, 'Who am I?', 'Where did I come from?', and 'Why do I look like that girl over there?'.

While only being 3 episodes, it's still well worth the money. Not to mention lots of good tit shots ;) Most of the girls spend their time trying to get into this guys pants for some odd reason (they must have a thing for dorky engenering students). Even his sister wants a piece of the action.

Perfect Blue

Picture what would happen if you mixed disney, and hitchcock. Yep, that scary. It's not nearly the mindfuck "Clockwork Orange" is, but it's up there.

Kiki's Delivery Service

This is a classic. The kind of stuff that realy belongs in the childrens section. The story of a young witch out on her own for the first time. Since the only usefull skill she has happens to be flying on her broom she starts a flying delivery service. Cheesy, but it's just so cute! Oh, and Gigi ;) Hehe, her talking black cat.
