war_games.html

Actualy having nothing to do with wargames at all, but none the less, I didcided to type it up anyway.

Well, maby a little bit about wargames, but not much. Has more to do with stratigy than anything else. A very usefull thing to have when dealing with any probelm that might occur, be it war, or anything else.

In making a battle plan (doesn't have to realy be battle, but makes a good refrence (used here on out)), you must think about a myrad of things before you can make a sound desision...

* You must know your enemy, but lacking that, you must have a good idea who he/she is.

* You must trust yourself

* Know your allies

* Know your arsenal

* Know the enemys arsenal

* Know how much you are will to risk

* Be prepared for plans to go amuck, and have a couple backup plans

* Think many steps ahead of the enemy

* Watch for openings, but don't be tricked by a bluff

* Calculate all possible outcomes from your actions, and the enemys

* Prepare for said outcomes

These are just a few of the things you need to truely prepare yourself for battle. All must be taken into account, and none forgoten, I can not stress this enough, it's just that inportant. You need to know who your dealing with, know what kind of risks they are willing to take, and catch them when they do.

One of my favorite things to do, is put myself in a position where I appear very weak, so that my enemy will strike, that way I will be pretty shure that my enemy will strike there. Kina like calling a bluff in poker. Or, other times, I like to make myself look bigger, and scaryr than I realy am, that way the enemy will retreat, and then they will think about trying to attack next time.

You also need to learn what to expect from the enemy, what kind of response does a certan type of action bring?...very inportant

Course, one other thing that is very nessary, is not to give out information that may lead to your demise. Don't tell them what your going to do before you do it. Granted that most people don't do this anyway (when they do, they don't realize it). So, what I'm realy saying, is cover your tracks, give misleading information, confuse them as much as possible. Covering your tracks may involve putting eronious information in thier head...it can even be mixed in with real information. If you do this enough, they won't know what to think. If you happen to slip up, and they expect something, don't let it happen, it gives them a sence of security, and they will gain ground. Lots of misleading clues are helpfull. Also of note, if you have a way to get information from them without them knowing, great, but don't abuse it. It may seem foolhearty at first to let the info go to waste, but. After a while, they will figure out that you know something, and will be more carefull. If you feel you must use the info, do it right. Example...The US navy knew where the geman troops where during WW2, but they sent spy planes over first anyway. The reason for the spy planes, was to be observed, so the attack that followed didn't seem odd. Very inportant to make it look like an accedent.

Depending on your enemy, this may involve going through your trash (yes, even trash can be usefull for info gathering). Since you have to throw the stuff away anyway, you should mix in lots of junk with it...to delute the info. Also, burn/shread it as well.

Keep them on thier toes...and you as well should be in the same position, it's all to easy to be lulled into a fase sence of security when things are going a bit too easy.

Also, inportant to think about all the ramafacations of every action. Not only your actions, but your enemys actions. Then carefully weigh out all the possible outcomes. It works best to calculate desisions on worst case senario, that way, if the outcome is better, your happy. Worst case senario's can realy suck though, and quite often they happen, be prepared to deal with the aftermath when they do.

Think of your allies as enemys in some respect too, you don't have control of them, they can do anything they please (leak information). Keep them on a need to know basis, Many a battle lost because this was not done. For all you know, they are in cohorts with they enemy, remember that.

This isn't much of a howto, but it may help somebody out there...
