Oh, just as a side note, sweaver the sysadmin was gone today. So my friend adam kicked ass. He got everything fixed up, and the virus stoped (on our network anyway). As far as I'm concenred, he might as well be the sysadmin ;)

Yesterday the 'love bug' virus hit. Boy was that nasty. It took out milions of computers around the world. Oops. But things for Internet Nebraska went very well. We knew about the virus soon after it started causing problems, and kept it from bothering us. Granted that a couple of our users did get hit...but a couple might as well be none when you think about how many thousands of users we have.

Thier are now varients in existance, but they will be dealt with as we find them. No big deal. Actualy, I would have been suprised if varients didn't appear. The source is so fucking simple! Wierd too...I've written viruses similar to this, but never thought they would be able to travel...but that was before microsoft decided to put vbscript in *everything*. Gesh. It's thier own fault.

I even made the lincon paper due to this. I was on duity, and anwering the phone when a reporter called. I realy didn't have a clue for what to do, so I faked it. Everybody else was busy at the time, so I had nowhere to turn for help. Not to mention stalling the guy would make it look like I was lying. I basicly told them that we rock so much that it didn't bother us. He was like 'Are you shure it didn't cause any problems?'. I was like 'Dude, we kick so much ass this was realy not a big deal. Just an annoyance like spam. We told our mail server to just bounce that shit back where it came from. We don't want that kind of stuff around.' He was like 'Umm, are you black?'. I was like 'Fuck ya man, I'm the blackest white boy around! This is IN, we fucking kick ass, don't even think about messing with us...we are l33t d00d!'

Well, it didn't quite go that way....

It was actualy a lot more profesional than that :) I just kept telling him it was a non-issue, and it was taken care of. No worries. He did have a hard time accepting that, but hey, IN still got good PR in the paper today :)

The truth of the matter though. We do kick ass, and we are all fucking l33t d00dz. Don't mess with us...we have the FBI on our side :) LOL, me having the FBI on my side...that's a new one. It rocks...oh, and I love calling up to phone company to bitch them out 'cuz they need to fix thier shit. They suck so much... USWEST more than the rest though... I had to dispatch one of thier repairmmen to fix one of our lines (well, it's realy thiers), and the guy told me that thier stuff was good, and it was my modem that was broken. I explained to him very nicely that my modem works fine, and it's his problem. After getting a 'bit' more graphic...he's taken care of it (promptly).

What else? Oh, I got invited to a party tonnite...I don't think I'm going though...since I have to open in the morning. I so *DON'T* enjoy getting up at 5:00am with a hangover. Oh well, thier will be more later. Missing one won't realy bother me much.

Tommorow's going to be a slow day anyway. Not much to do, not many calls to deal with. I'll just bring in my laptop and enjoy myself. Keep the network up, and continue to make users happy. They are our lifeline...if they wern't so fucking stupid I'd be out of a job. In that line of reasoning idiots have thier uses. Something for the '31337' to feed off of. Hmm, we realy need to get computers in the 3rd world countrys :) More morons to feed off of.

As you can probably tell, I have no real respect for idiots...I just pretend to...it keeps them happy...keeps them coming back. As long as this 'internet' thing is popular, I'll have food on my plate, and gas in my tank. And I think it's going to stick around for a very long time.

Our society has become quite dependant on it. The infrastructure being almost a nessesity of life. What would people do without? Actualy place phone calls? Actualy leave thier homes? Who knows, but I realy do prefer it this way. Frieds that are on the other side of the world don't realy seem that far away. Just a 'click' away as it's said (hehe, clicko, clicko, clicko).

I had another funny call come in today. Some realy nice lady who doesn't know shit about computers called up wanting to get an account. Not a problem, I set her up. Did a full walkthrough and it was all good. But during that time, she didn't understand when I said 'right click'. See, she has a notebook with a top, and bottom button. So, I had to specify 'Ok, now bottom click on that icon'. It was funny as shit!

Next we get to the problem of my duity today. It was dull, callbacks. I love doing them, but today sucked. Not much in the que. I cleaned out all I could like 2 hours after getting to work, and the rest of the time just kept calling people who didn't want to answer. Over, and over again. That was the dull part.

I recently recived a NIC for my mac. But to get it to work gutting the mac is required. The card's way too big to fit, but I can 'make' it fit. Thank god I'm handy with a soddering iron ;)

Oh, I'm also going to recive a new template for my pilot (octave). My current one works well, but realy doesn't fit...it's made for a PalmV, not a PalmIIIx. They also made some changes to the design, hopefully helpfull ones.

I've also littered my notebook with stickers again, some realy cool ones that came in the 'lain' tapes. Kick ass anime!

Speaking of that, I'm going to wander off, and admire those pics I ripped last night.
