I see it every day, on the whole nobody really has a clue. They rely on things they don't understand. Could john_doe fix a problem on his car? Probably not, could he replace all the wires in his house? No! How do you expect a person who can't even bang the rocks togehter to operate a VCR? Let alone something more complicated like a computer. It's not going to happen. Not unless you dumb it down first.

That's where the entire problem lies. You dumb it down too much, and it becomes a useless piece of junk. Sure it's easy to turn on, and shut off, but what can you do with it!? That's one problem we will have to overcome. But, I don't see a way...not yet anyway.

A good argument is cars. Automatic vs. Manual transmision. Yes, it's much easyer to drive an automatic, but you louse a *LOT* of control, and power. You give this up for ease of use. Seriously though, it's not that fucking hard to drive a manual. It's all about timeing, no biggie. Granted most people don't know what an icon is either.

The whole point of this is to show that even as technoligy gets better, people on the whole won't be getting smarter. Quite to the contray, they will just be dumbed down by it. No longer will they have to dig a new hole in the backyard to set the outhouse on. Not with that magical new thing called 'plumbing'. Push the handle, and *poof* the shit goes 'away'. They don't care where away is, as long as its away from them.

Sad, but that's the way life is. You can't change it. Or, not without some very drastic measures being taken. IE, kill all the idiots. Heh, this would reduce the population far too much though. We need the 'lesser' men to do the dirty work. Who else is going to do the boring factory work? Risk thier lives to mine coal that powers our great machines? Yep, we need these idiots. Too bad we just can't concentrate them into camps. Just like the nazi's did with the jews.

They wouldn't be nearly as productive that way though. Idiots need to feel like the have some sort of control in life. Even though the reality of it is not. They have no power, only living in anothers shadow.
