Another part of my rent check finaly shows up. Hmm, annoying, but it's getting paid. All that really matters IMHO anyway. She has another one due shortly. Hmm. Some people just plain piss me off.

I ment to buy a carton of smokes on the way to work. Forgot, then ment to on the way to the diner. Forgot. Hmm, I'll have to backtrack to the grocery store to get some on my way home. Yeash! Why arn't places open at 1:00am!?

The girl with the tangerine iBook was here again tonnite. Not that it matters much. She wouldn't even give me the time of day if I'd wanted it. Hmm, no. If she forgot her yo-yo, she'd tell me. But only if I'd let her borrow mine. Danmit, why do girls have to be so strange?

They drive me nuts, I've met a few who seem to make some sort of sence. Or, that's how it seems anyway. Too bad none of them have been in person. Just online. Online, where everything makes more sence. Where everything is real.

Here in the so called real world, the laws don't make sence. Things are done for no reason at all. None of it fits a strict protocal. Even the laws of physics can be broken.

This is not true for my world. You have the laws of TCP/IP, you can't break them at all. Sometimes bend, but they never can be broken. Hmm, better way to say it. You can break them all you want. But then things just don't work. It's not a matter of right and wrong, it's a matter of if it works or not.

Software is no diffrent from hardware. Not in the true sence, since it relys soly on the hardware to function. Heh, I must be crazy :)

I've decided what to do with my day off this week. I want an SE/30. I really want one. I've wanted one since the day my first one died. It's what got me started on the whole Mac craze. Way back when I was a mere youngster. So many years ago, sometimes I have a hard time remembering if it really happend or not.

It made going back so easy, very much like riding a bike. Once you learn, you won't ever forgit. Things have changed a lot though. Back then I used System 6.0.8. Heh, back before it was called MacOS. When it was just the system software. Nothing special. But it was special. These are computers with souls! I've never been attached to an x86 box that much before. Not like this anway.

With my 386, I refered to it as my 386. No love. I loved it, but it wasn't the same. It never smiled at me...ever. My 486 was the same. Just a 486, nothing special. The first laptop I got was reffered to as my subnotebook (being very small). I abused that machine far more than I should have.

But, my first Macintosh. Mmm, that was a real computer... What a computer is supposto be. I never named her though. Just refering to her lovingly as my Macintosh. A far better name by far than just some numbers. She stood out in a crowd. A compact Mac full of love.

I'd flip her switch, she would ding to let me know she was warming up. After a couple seconds, she would smile at me. Just to let me know she loved me. This went on for quite some time till I made a fatal mistake. Instead of letting her guide me, I took it uppon myself to do a very PeeCee thing to her.

The next time she booted was not good. She beeped like ususal, but then came up with a sad face. I could tell something had to be wrong. No idea what the hex code ment though. After spending countless hours on the phone to apple I decided she was dead. They claimed it was a memory error, and thier was no way to fix it.

She basicly sat on a shelf for many years to come. Then I left for college. A Mac shop there offered to trade me a 386 for her, even. What the heck, she wasn't doing me any good, and I needed a file server at the time.

Turned out the HD had been damaged, after removing it she booted up just fine. Tested out perfectly. Danmit, I hated myself after finding this out. I traded my first true love for a 386. Needless to say that 386 didn't hang around very long. Stupid compaQ.

So, in my quest to go back to those early days, I'd like to get another SE/30. Oh the love! If everything goes right, I should be able to stick a NIC in her, and my spare 500meg SCSI drive. Even pump her up to max ram. I get so excited just thinking about this!

I guess that's how it all started. One fatefull day in a bank. Heh, I was a silver tounged devil back then. Heh, still am ;)

What's next? Our lovely MacOS is changing, OS X is so radicly diffrent! It's unix, and MacOS mixed. Two things with soul. I wonder how it will work out? Heh, unix. Software with soul, but the hardware ususaly doesn't have it. Put that on a machine with soul, and mixed with MacOS. It's got to be something with attitude!

They say in heaven love comes first, who made heaven a place on earth? When I look around, I reach for you, and you bring me home. In this world were just begingin, you understand the maricle of living. Before I was afraid of living, I'm not afraid no more. They say in heaven love comes first, who made heaven a place on earth?

Such an appropriate song to be playing on a computer that smiles when I turn her on ;)

I saw something on the tele today that made me sick. Apparently HP is makeing colored computers now. They where the standard boxy design with colored plastic stuck on the outside. It looked like some manager just stuck it on. Gross!

They could have at least had an artist design it. This is why those things have no soul. They are desinged to be cheap, and that's about it. No love in the design.
