I’m in walmart, and thier is only one checkout lane open. And of course the cashier standing there has to weight at least 400lbs. No big deal, I just try very hard to not look at her. Then comes the bit about getting my change back. She counts out every single penny. Touching my hand as she does so. I so wanted to just shove that change where the sun doesn’t shine. Yarg! I hate people touching me. Unless of course thier is a good reason. That was not one of them.

Speaking of walmart, I hate them. Not that I don’t occasionaly shop at one, but that’s due to convience only. It’s all about thier ‘moral’ ajenda. Them wanting to instill good morals, they sell bibles, and cut all the ‘bad’ words out of music. It’s wrong. Heh, but they do sell cheap raman. Thier only saving grace.

Bad Religion has released a new CD. It’s called ‘The New America’. Pretty good IMHO, now what’s much more interesting is how I found out about it. Napster...

I’m surfing Napster, getting Bad Religion songs that I love, but can’t play anymore. The CD’s are scratched all to hell. I run across a song called ‘I love my computer’. I’m like “You have to be kidding, this is some kind of joke.” I download it anyway, what the hell.

After I start listening to it, I realize that it’s defenitly them. Yep, or someone who’s really good at imitating them. Unlikely. Either way, a very cool song. So, as the story goes I head to the ‘offical’ Bad Religon website. Danm! It was only released a couple days ago.

This morning I stop at Best Buy, and pick up a copy. YES! The cover art kicks ass, and the music is wonderfull. Though they have gone back to more of a ‘folk’ style than the clasic punk. Though they are still very much punk.

A file with the lyrics will be forthcoming in a day or two. I really don’t have the time, nor the inclination to do that at the moment.

Work today went quite well, at least untill the end came. Thier was this girl who I literly had to yell at. She just didn’t follow my directions, or hear very well. Another luser who bought her computer at walmart. Yesh, when will these people get a clue? What are they thinking? Have they just done that much in the way of drugs?

I picked up some cheap ear buds yesterday. Desent freqency response, but not as good as I would really like. But, for 10$, no complaints here. The bass is low enough that I can almost ‘feel’ it. More so it’s just the effect of the vibrates the little fluid filled things in my ears that let me know what direction is up.

My memory hasn’t come yet. I’m a bit annoyed, but I’ll live without for a bit longer. It’s just a bit slugish when running several large programs.

----

After work I headed to my parents house to sign some forms. Apparenly a family I rent to has decided they can’t afford to pay rent. Therefor they are getting some assistance from the city. I guess that’s a good thing, but really hope it doesn’t turn into a habbit.

Speaking of tennants, my other tennant got fired from his job yesterday. Yum, and he was the good on. Not that I really like him all that much, but he pays his rent on time every month. That part I like ;)

He invited me to a ‘kegger’ friday night. Hmm, somehow I think my scedule is already booked. Work, you know. One of those things that a person just has to do. Unless of course they happen to have so much money they can wipe thier asses with 100$ bills every day, and never run out. I’m not one of those people, and neither is he.

I’m getting quite annoyed with users in general, they don’t know what they are doing, and can’t express themselves in a way that makes sense. After about the 20th time you have to explain to somebody what an ‘icon’ is it gets a little old. Sometimes I wonder how much longer I can take it.

Maby I’ll just go into web page design, or something just as geeky. Who knows, it may just happen. But not today. I’m way too hooked on the killer bandwith at work. I’m not sure what I would do without it. I’ve also been thinking more about doing some serious writing. To the point that it may actualy become a reality. I’m not sure how I would go about getting it in print though.

It would obviously turn out as some sort of fiction, sci-fi but not. I’m still working on all the details, but I want to do it right this time. Many times I’ve started, and gotten a chapter or two into it, then becase lost. No idea where to take the story next. The first thing I have to do, is create a proper story line. Then fill in the ‘meat’ as it may be.

AppleWorks is treating me well, not half bad for a HTML editor. More so just a normal word processor that happens to save as HTML. Heh.

It’s 2:15am, and once again I’m sitting in a dirty old truckstop. Is my life really this boring? Sometimes it makes me think a major lifestyle change would be good. I’m now 22, have a good job, and no life. Age has made me wiser, but not by much. I still do dumb things on occasion.

My life has become a routine again. That depresses me. I so dislike those. It goes something like this.

Wake up
Check email
Drive to work
Get annoyed by users
Play with modems
Drive to the diner
Hang out for a while
Drive home
Sleep
...

Is this really what I want out of life? It would be so much better if thier was at least a little sex in it. You know, not the kind that actualy requires a long term relationship. Just some good old stress releaving sex. Not the find of thing I’m going to find with my computer.

Thats a tough call though. I wouldn’t trade my computer for any girl, no matter what. People turn on you, but computers never do. Predictable, and logical. Aside from that, they never stop listening. I am much more willing to pour my heart out to a non judgemental machine that an living person.

Life is funny that way. Some people just fit in with the crowd, and then others don’t really fit in anywhere. What determines this is up here *points to head*. No two people are the same, or should I say it would be highly improbole for two people to be the same.

A lot of it has to do with our genetic makeup. This is probably the most inportant part. But the rest is cultural. Even if your parents are brain surgens, this doesn’t mean you will be that bright. The culture around you may drive you a diffrent direction. More like cattle ready to go off to the slaughter.

This is how most of society is. Never really thinking, letting others make thier decisons. The most thought they have to deal with is what to wear that day. Everything else is decided for them already. They probably don’t realize it though. Ask them why they drive a certan brand of car, and you may very well get a recording from an advertesment coming out of thier mouths.

It’s sad what this world has come to. Everything comes pre-packaged. Current culture shuns being origional. If it’s hand crafted, it’s a novilty. Lets look at an example.

Desks.

Such simple things, yet are they? When a person decides they need a new desk, what do they do? Ususaly they hit up the local super-store. There they have a wide selection of pretty looking, but low quality desks. Made from cheap particle board, and covered with a paper thin layer of plastic. The expected life span less then 5 years. Then they pay several hundred dollars for said desk.

Now, on the other hand, if you purchse the materials from a lumber store. Picking out the best materials for the job. Asymble it in your garage, with all the final touches... You get a desk that will last for well over a lifetime, and cost far less.

Several key diffrneces exist here. It takes time to do something properly, most people don’t have this. It also takes skill to do things properly, most people don’t have this either. And, finaly. They don’t care. If it’s good enough for the store to sell, it’s good enough for them to buy.

I still have about an hour left on my battery. This is the first notebook that can hold out as long as I can (if not longer). I’m really enjoying it.

As this issue spins to a close, till next time.
