In this issue I've been working at Internet Nebraska. Things have been going very good. Only a few things could make it better.

1. Better monitor on dodo.inebraska.com

2. Shorter drive to work

3. Being able to use the username xpurple

Asside from those three things...I don't know what else I'd ask for. With a bit of hard work, I can fix the first 2 myself. Monitors arn't that expensive, and moving to lincon (or at least closer) was already part of the plan.

!root (pronounced *bang* root) is a wierd login name. Kina funky, but cool.

Due to having da Mac-fu (macintosh skills), I've been assinged dodo.inebraska.com as my personal workstation. Due to the fact that nobody else can use it effecently. This is actualy very cool. Shure it's a POS PPC, but I don't have to worry as much about typos. Since the keyboard is layed out just like the one I have at home. Ass opposed to the kick ass suns that have the caps lock, and control keys reversed. While not a problem, tends to cause me to hit caps lock+d a lot. Or, hit control when I ment to hit caps lock.

Tech support calls rock. For some odd reason whenever I'm on the phone, I get kina wierd. Saying please, thank you, and have a good day. I don't know what comes over me. But it's working out very well. Thier are some things I just can't answer yet, but that will change. The other thing is giving people answers that I know that they won't like. I hate doing it. So a bit of padding works to keep them happy.

Then comes the reality of it. Talking to these people is like telling a 5 year old how to disarm a bomb. Also kina like pulling teeth. They are our eyes, and fingers. But getting them to do our bidding can be tiresome.

I spent a while last night helping adam get fvwm2 to work on his box. And make his config do what he wants to do. This took me a few days to figure out, or more so a few days to find the time to play with it. I'm pretty shure he's enjoying it :)

For some odd reason, his new sparc5 doesn't want to compile anything. It keeps complaining that C++ is broken. Hmm, I wish I knew more about SunOS. But, that will come later.

Today I've been running around playing 'landlord'. At least it's a bit of a change from the ususal. Got most of the stuff done today that I needed to. The only bit that was a problem...due to the guy just not being there. Left a message, so he will either call me, or email me. I so much prefer email.

Speaking of email. How would you like to get about 100 messages a day?! All reasonably inportant stuff too. Heh, that's what I get now. Due to work. But it's worth it, lets me see what's realy going on.

Last night I spent quite a bit of time playing with some of the modem pools. Trying to figure out how to fix them. So far so good, I haven't broken anything. Not to mention that I think I'm actualy getting a grasp on all of this finaly. Heh, it's only been a couple days ;)

I seem to be fitting in at IN pretty good. Course looking at the other monkeys that work thier...it's not too hard. I am geek.

Funny bit. one of the guys keeps commenting on the 'switchblade' that I carry on my right side. Lol, it's realy a leatherman (yes, the real thing). Just in case I need to take something appart, skin an animal, or defend myself.

I'm still trying to find a good way to sync my pilot on oddity.ledhazard.net (My Macintosh). Hmm, I'll get it right one of these days. Oh, and just incase anybody cares, I run an ftp on there. Lots of junk. I mean this quite literaly. Anything inportant is locked down with PGP, so don't get any ideas.

Oh, and I'm still waiting for somebody to try to '0wn' me. Heck, if anybody can 0wn my mac...they get a prize.

Speaking of that...I've currently got an uptime of like 3.5 days. That's a new record for oddity. Being a mac...unstable...just because it doesn't realy support protected memory. Danm those guys at apple! The only thing I want now is protected memory!

Hmm, whats left to say? I've still got a cup of coffee left...

delphi is pretty bumed out, I talked to her last night...tryed to cheer her up. But I think to no avail. Oh well...things have to get worse before they get better. An old man told me that once. He told me a lot of things. Including "Wrongdoing for a good cause can be honerable".

Where does that leave us? Hmm, out in the middle of nowhere. Don't ask, it's a long story.

On another note of intrest, I got a new email address, lilwhiteboy@shitnegro.net. Heh, having that address just kicks so much ass...oh my does it hurt. hehehe...

oh, and just incase I forgot to mention, thomasu@inebraska.com is also a new email address. This is due to being part of the staff now. Steve didn't think a support guy should have the username xpurple. Oh well. Heh, I should have asked for Murasaki or something of the like.

Movies, Music, and Microcode. The three M's.
